Score, shots and penalties from the stands.

A clock that stops with the whistle and matches the rink's board, a scorebook you fill with taps, and a link so the family at home sees the goal first. The roster is encrypted on your phone before it reaches us.

A small indoor rink from the stands: concrete block walls, steel roof trusses, a dark scoreboard, youth players on the ice and a few parents on the benches below.

A concrete box with a bad signal, and a bench with its hands full.

The stands

Kept from the stands, one thumb at a time.

The bench has its hands full, so a parent or the team manager keeps the book from the glass.

Buttons big enough for gloves. A tap for a shot, a few for a goal with its assists, Stop at the whistle and Start at the drop.

A bad signal only means it sends later. Everything is saved on the phone first.

A father in a cap seen from behind in the stands, a paper coffee cup in one hand and a phone low in the other, youth hockey players on the ice beyond the glass.
From the glass.

The box

Knows the penalty times.

The box time comes from your period length: a minor is 1:30 at 12U.3 It counts down on the game clock as a power play or a penalty kill, and a minor ends when the other side scores.

The sheet

Adds itself up.

Points, penalty minutes and the goalie's save percentage, the record with overtime losses apart, power play and penalty kill. Every number traces back to an entry with a period and a time on it.

The league's official sheet stays the official sheet; this one is the family's.

What our server can and can't see.

A player is a number and, if you like, a first name. The team's file is encrypted on your phone with a key we never receive: the key rides inside the invite link, in the part of the address a browser never sends to any server, ours included. We store the encrypted file and can't open it. No ads, no analytics, no tracking.

The family's game link shows first names (or jersey numbers, if the team switches names off) to anyone who has it. All of it is spelled out in the privacy policy.

Questions a coach asks first.

Does every parent need the app?

No. The game link opens in any browser and needs no app and no account. Send one link to all the team's families.

What if two of us keep the book?

That's normal. Each person logs from their own phone, and every goal, shot and penalty is its own entry, so both land in the same game. Two people who change the same setting at once: the later change wins. An assistant can join from your invite without an account for two weeks, then signs in with an email.

Does it work at a rink with no signal?

Yes. Everything is saved on the phone first and sent when a bar comes back. The family's link needs signal on their end to update.

Does it replace the official sheet?

No. The league's sheet stays the official one. This is the family's book: the same stamps (period and time left), so the two are easy to compare.

What does it cost?

Free while in testing. After launch, one low price per team, with every coach, parent and grandparent included. No per-user fees, no ads. Nobody's data is sold.

What happens to the team if I stop?

Another coach on the team keeps it. If you are its only owner, you make another coach the owner before you delete your account; a team nobody else can reach is deleted with your account.

Notes

  1. Safari or Chrome on any phone; add it to your home screen to open it like an app. Back
  2. Time left, not time played, the way the rink keeps it. Three 15-minute periods by default (13 at some tournaments), a short sudden-death overtime, and a tie stands, the way 12U plays around here; set your own per game if your league differs. The clock stores when it started, not a count, so it is still right after the phone sleeps in your pocket. Back
  3. USA Hockey Rule 402: a minor is 1:30 with 13- and 15-minute periods and 2:00 from 17-minute periods up. A power-play goal ends the other side's minor; a major runs its full time. Back
